North Kerala- Kannur Tour Attractions

A beautiful city on the northern side of Kerala State in India. This place is famous for they yam temple festivals and beautiful beaches.

  1. Muzhappilangad Drive in Beach.

There is only one drive-in beach in Kerala. That credit goes to Muzhappilangad, Kannur. A dream beach, one kilometer away from N.H.17 towards west between Thalasseri and Kannur - as if Muzhappilagad Panchayath has been adorned with an anklet by the Arabian Sea. Beach is seven kilometer long and about 100 meter wide. During the low tide when the sea recedes, the width will increase to more than 200 meters. Since the shore is curved like a semicircle, from one end, the other end of the beach can be seen. Giving a green border to the beach pine trees stand majestically along the shore.......

2. Theyyam ritual performance.

Theyyam – the ritualistic performance, which can be described as the most visible, spectacular art form of Malabar (Northern part of Kerala), associated with myths and legends. Theyyam can also be described as a form of worship consisting of rituals, however no strict religious association is followed.

3. Kavvayi Backwaters and Kavvayi beach house

Clean, and Silent Beach on one side and very calm and peaceful river on other side of Island. And best available home stays on this Island. The best rated tourism destination of Kannur.

Kavvayi Backwaters located near Payyannur is the third largest backwater in Kerala and the largest one in north Kerala. The Kavvayi Kayal(Backwaters) is dotted with several small and large islands. Valiyaparamba island is the largest among them and stretches over 16 km2. Located north to Payyannur, Kavvayi is the largest backwater stretch in North Kerala

4. Paithalmala Hill Station

The hillock of Madayipara, which carries several signs of historic relevance, is also a place important from a religious point of view. Here, a pond in the shape of a hand held mirror, connected to ancient jewish settlers is another historic attraction. Similarly, a temple at this site, called Vadukunda Siva Temple and the adjoining lake, about an acre in extension form yet another attraction at Madayipara. The lake near the temple will not go dry even in hot summer months and remains a source of nourishment to life forms at Madayipara. The pooram festival of Madayi Kavu held at Madayipara has been responsible for much of its fame.
